ABOUT ME
Welcome to www.timgrayphotography.com. This site went live Beta mid January 2003 and is now ready to start growing (mid Feb). That's me in the blue jacket. This picture was taken by my friend Liz Bernal (a D60 user) from Santo Domingo in October 2002 when she and her significant other and my good friend Jose Alonso came up to catch the fall colours. The shot was taken at the Gravenhurst golf courses near Huntsville Ontario.
I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My significant other is Jenny and I have one dependent, a Double Yellow Amazon, Poco Cito. My first camera (about 1971, if memory serves) was a Rollie 35. Nice little camera, built like a brick. Unfortunately I left the battery in it for too long, it leaked and damaged the camera. Oh well. I became interested in digital photography in late 1999 when the Nikon Coopix 900 came out. At 2.2 megapixels you could print an acceptable 8x10 with the new generation Epson colour printers. That was fun, but frustrating - the shutter lag made action shots virtually impossible and the LCD screen was un-viewable in sunlight. In any event I was hooked. In late 2000 the Canon D30 was released and Michael Reichmann at Luminous Landscape (my favourite photography web site) suggested that at sizes up to 8x10 it rivaled film. So I sold the Nikon and bought lots of Canon equipment, and an Epson 1270. After almost 22,000 shots I'm still going strong.
